Austin mainstays Band of Heathens trucked all the way up to the Bright Box in Winchester Virginia, or almost made it up, as their touring van broke down on the way up. I guess you could call them alt-country, though they had a bit of swampy New Orleans Funk in them, and I was surprised how much their jams could sound like Little Feat at times.

Bonus points for trying to forge Gillian Welch's "Look at Miss Ohio" into a country music anthem.
